What is Conscious Parenting

  • Conscious parenting is about being mindful and conscious in all your interactions with your child. It is about connecting with your children at a deeper level and nurturing their essence.
  • It requires a change in the way you view your child’s behavior and respond consciously to his/her needs. Simply put, it means, seeing your children as they are, or seeing the ‘spirit or the essence of their being’.
  • In other terms, it is about knowing yourself / Understanding your conditioning / biases and beliefs, making your children as your awakeners; understanding relationships (between you and your spouse, understanding your child’s role in your life); Understanding the meaning of love; Knowing what it means to be a sensitive, intelligent and integrated human being; understanding the real meaning of education; Understanding your responsibility to the child and not for the child; Encouraging the child with a spirit of inquiry; Focusing on how and not on the why; Materialistic success vs life skills.

There are many strategies to be employed in each moment as we encounter and engage with our children. But the tools will only be effective if we understand that the best way to deep connection, is to suspend judgement and criticism. Our hope is that you achieve a sense of internal fulfillment and deep satisfaction as you learn to connect with, and find joy in your relationships with the most important people in your world.
